Paul Mungai

Paul Mungai is a Research Fellow at Fairwork in South Africa. He holds a PhD in Information Systems from the University of Cape Town. His broad research interests include fair work, good governance, big data, innovation, and open data. 

His recent publications include Causal mechanisms and Institutionalization of open government data in Kenya and The Role of the Marginalized and Unusual Suspects in the Production of Digital Innovations: Models of Innovation in an African Context. For the Fairwork project, Paul conducts fieldwork involving platform workers in South Africa, publishes academic papers, and represents the Foundation at stakeholder meetings, workshops and conferences.
