Akkanut Wantanasombut is the Principal Investigator for Fairwork Thailand.
Akkanut heads the research group in Innovation for Social Solidarity and Inclusive Economy in Asia (ISSIE) at the Institute of Asian Studies, Chulalongkorn University. He is also the founder of Tamsang-Tamsong, a platform cooperative for motorcycle taxis, and the leader of Platform Cooperativism Consortium Thailand (thaiplatform.coop), a project focused on promoting worker-owned platforms in Thailand.
Akkanut’s research examines labor issues, digital economies, and social solidarity. He has collaborated with various stakeholders, including the International Labour Organization (ILO), to address challenges faced by informal and platform workers, particularly in the transportation sector. His work integrates Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) principles to create inclusive, fair, and sustainable labor practices.
