Fairwork’s assessment of Appen’s on-site operations in Imus, Cavite reviewed workplace policies and practices through desk research, a site visit, a worker survey, and interviews. During the 2024–2025 evaluation period, Fairwork documented 15 changes introduced by Appen, including expanded mental-health support for content moderators, a new wellness programme, standardised consent procedures, updates to privacy and appeals processes, the discontinuation of screen-monitoring software, and the establishment of an Engagement Forum for worker voice. Based on verified evidence, Appen was awarded points for Fair Pay (1.1), Fair Management (4.1 and 4.2), and Fair Representation (5.1), resulting in a total score of 4/10.
