Fairwork Thailand Ratings 2025: Setting a Baseline for Decent Work in Thailand’s Platform Economy

Fairwork-Thailand-Report
Fairwork-Thailand-Report

This is the first-ever Fairwork report in Thailand. The report creates a baseline evaluation of working and employment conditions of seven digital platforms. These include the domestic service platform BeNeat, ride-hailing platforms Bolt and inDrive, and the ride-hailing, food delivery, and parcel delivery platforms Grab, LINE MAN, ShopeeFood, and Robinhood.
The analysis of these seven platforms follows the Fairwork Methodology, examining five principles for ensuring minimum standards of fair and decent work, the contents of which are presented in detail in this report: fair pay, fair conditions, fair contracts, fair management, and fair representation.
The research found that most of these companies were unable to evidence a minimum standard of fair work, with none scoring more than 2 points. All companies, except Robinhood, which scored zero points, were able to secure one point for the principle of Fair Contracts; however, only BeNeat, Bolt, and inDrive were able to achieve a total score of two. BeNeat scored its additional point for fair pay, while Bolt and inDrive scored theirs for fair management. Notably, no platform scored points for Fair Conditions or Fair Representation.
Overall, these findings suggest that most platform workers in Bangkok face low pay and precarious working conditions. The report thus underlines the importance of legislative measures that ensure minimum standards of pay and working conditions for platform workers.
