Nancy Salem

Nancy Salem is a Research Assistant at the Fairwork Project. She is also a doctoral student at the Oxford Internet Institute.

Nancy’s research interests include the digital humanities, and internet and information geography. Prior to studying at the Oxford Internet Institute, she worked in the field of digital development in the Middle East and North Africa. She holds a BA in History from the American University in Cairo, a MSc in Development Studies from SOAS, and a MSc in Social Science of the Internet from the University of Oxford. She recently co-authored the publications Narratives around Women, Work, and Technology and A Gendered Analysis of Ridesharing: Perspectives from Cairo, Egypt.

For the Fairwork project, Nancy is researching platform economy responses to COVID-19, providing other research support, and assisting with external communications.
