Adam Badger is a Postdoctoral Researcher in Fairwork’s UK team. His interdisciplinary (Geography & Management) PhD investigated the lived experiences of work in London’s gig economy, and modes of resistance to this contemporary form of technologically enabled organisation. He is motivated by questions of justice, fairness, and equality at work, and uses research that prioritises investigations of materiality and lived practice in the city to interrogate these.

Adam’s other research work includes a Postdoctoral position at Royal Holloway where he worked in a team to investigate mutual aid responses to the COVID-19 crisis in England and its possibility for radical potential futures. This included the development of a novel research methodologies tailored to pandemic limitations, and the co-creation of an interactive documentary and ‘Manifesto for Mutual Aid’.

Adam has also worked as a postdoc on a British Academy project (Royal Holloway & Monash) to investigate the possibilities of Just Transitions Toward Decarbonisation in Australia, where he considered work, technology and labour as part of a just transition.
