Nermin Oruč
Principal Investigator
Nermin holds a PhD degree in Economics obtained from Staffordshire University, UK. He is labour economist with 15 years of experience in the analysis of labour markets in the Western Balkans. He has 10 years of teaching experience in Research Methods, Econometrics, Labour Economics and Economic Development at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Nermin had so far completed more than 100 research and consultancy projects for various international organisations and donors. He co-authored a number of reports and studies on the labour market and migration issues in Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Western Balkans.
He is also a Team Leader of BiHMOD, a microsimulation model for evaluation of tax and social policies, based on EUROMOD. He was a Visiting Fellow at the International Inequalities Institute, LSE, London, where he worked on analysis of the effects of labour market institutions on inequality in ex-Yugoslav countries.
Nermin’s reccent publications include Income Inequality in Transition Economies: A Comparative Analysis of Croatia, Serbia and Slovenia, The effect of increasing the minimum wage on poverty and inequality in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Gender Differences in the Effect of Migration and Remittances on Labour Market Participation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
