Investigator

Victor Riesgo is an Investigator with the Fairwork Spain team.

Víctor Riesgo holds a PhD in sociology and is currently working as a contract researcher in the ONDEMANDCITY research project with reference PID2021-122482OB-I00 and as a professor-tutor at the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED). His research interests focus on the relationship between technological developments in the context of platform capitalism and work, consumption and the use of urban space, always from a sociological perspective.

Most of his most recent publications deal with aspects related to the work of Uber drivers and similar platforms in Spain. Among them we can highlight the doctoral thesis defended in February 2024 with the title: Control, consent and resistance in the work of the Uber driving platform in Spain, available in open format here, and other papers published in Spanish and international journals addressing the same subject. As a complement to his academic work, he has also published press articles on the same subject in the digital newspaper ElSaltoDiario.com and has been interviewed for reports on the same subject published in Spanish newspapers such as El País, El Confidencial and El Diario.
