Abigail Osiki
Abigail Osiki is a postdoctoral Research Fellow at Fairwork in South Africa. She recently completed her PhD at the Institute of Development and Labour Law, University of Cape Town. Her research interests include sustainable development, social protection, poverty alleviation, labour and property rights. She previously worked as a researcher in the Decent Work Regulation in Africa Project which was an intercontinental collaboration between the Universities of Durham, UK; Cape Town, South and York University, Canada.
For the Fairwork project, she interrogates how South Africa’s labour regulations and policies apply to workers in the platform economy. In addition, she considers whether there is a scope for interpreting these existing laws for the achievement of decent work for platform workers. Abigail works under the direct supervision of Emeritus Professor Darcy du Toit and Professor Sandra Fredman.
