Francisca holds a Ph.D. in Sociology and a Master in Social Sciences from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales de Paris (EHESS, France). She is currently an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of the Universidad Austral de Chile, where she teaches on sectoral public policies and labor relations. She is also an Associate Researcher at the Centre for the Study of Conflict and Social Cohesion (COES).

 

Since her graduate studies, Francisca has been interested in studying different problems linked to labor in Latin America. For example, between 2016 and 2019, she led a research project on the changes that have affected the relations between unions and management in the context of the cycle of protests that characterized Chile in that period (ANID fondecyt initiation 11150217). During the same period, she directed the Observatorio de Huelgas Laborales, an initiative of COES and the Universidad Alberto Hurtado (UAH), to measure and study strikes occurring outside institutional channels in the same country. Also, since 2021, she has led a research project focused on understanding the impact of national regimes on the labor process of digital delivery platforms in Latin America (ANID fondecyt regular 1210338)

 

Francisca is constantly involved in public debate. Her work has been published in prestigious national and international journals such as Work, Employment and Society; International Labour; Employee Relations; Journal of Latin American Studies, among others. She has also held significant management positions, such as the Director of the Master in People Management in Organizations at the UAH (2019-2021). Currently, she is an evaluator member of the Sociology Group of National Research and Development Agency.
