Lucas Katera
Principal Investigator
Lucas Katera is the co-principal investigator for the Fairwork project in Tanzania.
Lucas is an economist with practical experience in research and policy analysis particularly in the areas of poverty, public policy, and the labour market.
He holds a PhD in economics from the University College of Dublin in Ireland and an MA (Economics) from the University of Dar es Salaam. Dr Katera has led many large research projects, including the Service Delivery Indicators (SDI) survey, research that benchmarks health and education indicators for future impact assessment conducted in Seven African Countries; research on the assessment of Agriculture Policy Instruments, focusing on the National Agriculture Input Voucher Scheme (NAIVS) and the National Food Reserve Agency (NFRA); and the Afrobarometer survey, implemented in 36 African countries. He has published papers, articles, policy briefs and book chapters. He is currently the Director of REPOA.
