Nagla Rizk
Principal Investigator
Nagla Rizk is the Principal Investigator for Fairwork Egypt where she leads the Fairwork research. This includes adapting questions for interviews with gig workers, executives and other stakeholders to capture local nuances of the Egyptian context as well as disseminating results for positive impact.
She is a Professor of Economics and the Founding Director of the Access to Knowledge for Development Center (A2K4D) at the School of Business of the American University in Cairo.
Framed within the “access to knowledge” paradigm, Rizk’s multidisciplinary research covers the economics of knowledge, technology and development. She studies aspects of the digital economy including knowledge governance, entrepreneurship, innovation, data, Artificial Intelligence, digital platforms and new business models, including the gig economy, with focus on inclusion in Egypt, the Arab world and Africa.
